Black dogs. Demons. Hellhounds. Damned souls that haunt crossroads, taking the forms of hulking dogs with glowing red eyes. Legends of the Old World, but just stories meant to scare lonely wanderers. Mostly. Knoxville, Tennessee boasts black dogs of its own the mother chapter of the Lean Dogs Motorcycle Club. And like all legends, the Lean Dogs draw challengers from every corner of the underworld. War’s brewing in Tennessee, and the Dogs’ first family is about to face its biggest challenge yet the past. Ghost Teague has spent the last twenty-five years transforming a once-rough club into an empire with his queen by his side, the fearless girl who turned his life around when he needed her most. This new threat is a personal one, aimed at him, at Maggie, and it’s calling into question all the decisions they’ve made thus far. With a rival club in town, and an old nemesis preying on their doubts, they’ll have to save the city, the club, and their family. And there’s only one way to do it together. With past and present storylines, the sixth installment of the Dartmoor Series explores the king and queen like never before, an epic tale of rising, and ruling, and leaning on one another.

I have been waiting for Ghost and Maggie's book since I read the first book in this series. I remember emailing the author (the very 1st time I had ever done this) to ask if there would ever be a book about their story, she replied back probably not. She didn't think there would be enough interest for a book, but never say never. Well guess what, never is finally here.Their story was everything I hoped for and more. To me Ghost was a lost soul, it was as if he had nothing to live for, not even his son. Then along comes Maggie and the rest is history. The saying is behind every great man is a good woman, in this case Maggie was side by side Ghost the whole way. It just took someone to believe in him. I believe without Maggie Ghost would not have become the man he became.
This book started out with a huge surprise and continued through out giving us so many exciting details about their lives. So many times I would read a sentence or paragraph and think oh yeah I remember that.
I say this after every book no one writes like Lauren Gilley, she brings you right into their lives and you never want to leave. Lauren says this is the longet book she has witten, 556 pages. For me it could have been 956 pages and it is never enough.
Now I'm back in limbo land waiting for the next Lean Dog story. Lauren I know you want or need to write other stories, but please hurry back to Dartmoor, we are always here waiting for the next adventure.

American Hellhound Dartmoor Volume 6 Lauren Gilley Books Reviews
Absolutely LOVED this book. This series!
To finally get Ghost and Maggie's story was the icing on the cake.
Lauren has created an amazing series with characters that I have fallen in love with. Storylines that have me reading until all hours of the night, well wee hours of the morning, mainly because I can't put my freaking kindle down. These stories have me seriously hooked.
To get the early years of their relationship was fantastic to read. How they helped each other and especially Maggie for both Ghost and Aiden. Their love for each other was just breathtakingly beautiful. Each other's rocks.
I especially loved the part where Ghost hugged both Aiden and Tango to him. His boys. Totally blubbering here I tell you.
Like other MC series the ultimate brotherhood has come through this series which I love the most. The love they have for one another and their families is so heart warming. Would love to see all the kids mucking around together and with other brothers and especially with Michael. Mercy is such a big teddy bear and amazing already. It would be fun to read them together.
There are just so many elements to this series my heart feels so full right now. I hope Reese finds some peace and happiness. I could see him, Mercy and Michael being great friends and some great banter happening. Reese speaking French would be fun hearing him and Mercy together. Fingers crossed.
If you asked me when I started this series what I thought about Ghost, I would have ranted about how much I hated him. But this journey, completed by this book, has made him one of my all time favorites. I love the idea of the "terrible person, outlaw criminal" with the truly vulnerable underbelly. And watching him meet, fall in love with and then grow with Maggie was gorgeous. He revels in her strength while offering her his own.
This series is so so so much more than just an MC family. You can feel the Harley-Davidson rumble and smell the motor oil and liquor. It smells like home even if you've never been on a bike or to Tennessee. This is definitely on the short list of my "favorite series ever" and it keeps getting better.
I can count on one hand the number of authors that I can guarantee will give me not just a story worth reading, but a thought provoking adventure that I never want to end. Lauren Gilley is probably ranked highest on that list. The first time I read Fearless—Mercy has to be mentioned in each of my reviews, sue me—I didn't think I would read another book as good as that one. Honestly, I've been searching for one. Fearless was the kind of book that sunk into your bones and stayed there. American Hellhound, let me tell you, decided that it wanted to dig itself into my marrow and plant roots.
I L O V E D Ghost and Maggie in this book. Truthfully, I've loved them in every installment of the Dartmoor Saga, but this one brought them up to the number one spot for me. They were a complement to each other. Yin and yang. And one thing, as an aside, that I've always appreciated about these novels is that the men don't leave the life that they know for the women they love, they just become better men.
The growth with all of the characters feels organic and *real*. They don't actually feel like characters, rather like old friends I catch up with every few months. Ghost, for me especially, changed so much and for the better. Maggie, in a nutshell, was perfect for him—they were perfect for each other.
I had someone ask me what this book was about when I posted about it in my excitement that it was finally out and at the time, I didn't have an answer, but now I do. This isn't your everyday romance where boy meets girl and they live happily ever after. American Hellhound, like the rest of the books in the Dartmoor series, is about family and the lengths in which a person will go to to keep them safe. It's about perseverance and understanding the true meaning of love and friendship.
This book was an experience, one that I'm definitely going to repeat again. And I'm definitely calling dibs on Reese. My fingers are crossed there'll be more of him in the future.
